Hair Salon Near Rockland, MA

Salon Esprit is a full-service hair salon in East Bridgewater, about twenty minutes west of Rockland. The drive is a familiar one for a lot of our guests: Route 123 out through Abington, left onto Route 18, and south through Whitman until Route 18 becomes Bedford Street. We are at number 225, in the Carriage Crossing plaza, with free parking outside the door.

Rockland has no shortage of places to get your hair cut. The people who make the drive to us are usually after something more specific — a colorist who will be honest about what their hair can take, a stylist who stays put rather than moving salons every eighteen months, and a formula that gets written down and followed. We have been doing that here since 1990.

What Brings Rockland Clients This Way

Rockland sits in the northeast corner of our service area, further out than Whitman or Hanson, and we would not pretend otherwise. What we hear from guests who come from that direction is that the drive buys them consistency. They see the same person each visit. Their color history is on file rather than in someone’s memory. When they ask for something that will not work on their hair, they are told so before the foils go in, not after.

It also helps that once you are on Route 18 heading south, you stay on it. No highway, no rotary, no hunting for a space when you arrive. Several of our Rockland regulars time the appointment around errands in Whitman or Abington and treat the whole thing as one trip.

Getting Here From Rockland

Easy Access from Rockland

  • From Rockland center — Route 123 (Union Street) west through Abington, then south on Route 18 through Whitman into East Bridgewater. About 22 minutes.
  • From the north end of town, toward the Weymouth line — pick up Route 18 south and stay on it the whole way. It runs from Weymouth down through Abington and Whitman and becomes Bedford Street at our door. About 25 minutes, and no turns worth mentioning.
  • From the Plain Street / Rockland Golf Course area — west to Route 123, then Route 18 south. About 20 minutes.
  • Alternate if Route 18 is backed up in Whitman — Route 27 south out of Whitman into East Bridgewater, then west to Bedford Street. Similar time, fewer lights at rush hour.

Parking & Transportation

  • Free parking — Carriage Crossing is a surface plaza directly on Route 18. Free lot, no meters, no permit.
  • Commuter rail — Abington station at 231 Centre Avenue (Route 123) is the park-and-ride that serves Rockland on the Plymouth/Kingston line. It runs north toward Boston, so it is not a way to reach us — we mention it only because Route 123 past the station is the road most Rockland clients take here.
  • Bus — there is no public bus route connecting Rockland to East Bridgewater. This is a drive.
  • Accessibility — level entrance from the plaza lot, no stairs.

Coming From Somewhere in Rockland?

Rough drive times to the salon from spots around town:

  • Rockland town center, Union Street (~22 min)
  • Studleys Pond — Reed’s Pond to locals — on Route 123 (~21 min)
  • Thomas V. Mahon Park, on the pond’s southern shore (~21 min)
  • Rockland Golf Course, 276 Plain Street (~20 min)
  • Rockland Memorial Stadium, 100 Taunton Avenue (~22 min)
  • Hartsuff Park, 146 Hingham Street (~25 min)
  • The rail trail through the center of town (~22 min)

If you are already heading west for anything — Abington, Whitman, Brockton — the salon is on the way rather than out of it. Guests often pair an appointment with errands along that corridor, or with the cinema in our own plaza.

The Team You Would Be Sitting With

Salon Esprit has been at 225 Bedford Street since 1990. Every stylist holds current Massachusetts cosmetology licensure, and the team continues advanced education in color placement, corrective work and cutting — the areas where the difference between a good result and a disappointing one actually lives.

You can see who is who on our team page, and read 268 reviews from guests across the South Shore.

Common Questions From Rockland Guests

How long is the drive?

About 20 to 25 minutes depending on your end of Rockland. Route 123 west to Route 18, then south. Route 18 turns into Bedford Street and we are at 225, in the plaza.

Depends what you want. For a quick trim, stay local; we would tell you the same thing if you called and asked. For color that has to be planned across visits, corrective work, or a stylist you intend to keep for years, the drive stops registering after the first appointment. That is the pattern we see with the Rockland guests who stay.

No. Abington station is Rockland’s commuter rail park-and-ride, but that line runs north to Boston. Reaching us means driving.

Yes, and we would encourage it if you are driving in. Mention it when you book so we can schedule the two back to back rather than leaving a gap in the middle.

Often, but not always in one sitting, and anyone who promises otherwise without seeing your hair is guessing. Book a consultation first. We will look at what is actually on the hair, tell you what a realistic path looks like, and let you decide before anything is applied.

Serving Rockland and the South Shore

From our spot on Route 18 in East Bridgewater we see guests from across this part of the South Shore. Heading back toward Rockland you pass through Whitman and Abington; to our east is Hanson. We also welcome clients from Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Halifax, Hanover and Brockton.
